This program assumes the following:
1. You have completed a
food safety manager course, CPFM, ServSafe or National Registry and thus have a good solid
knowledge of food safety.
2. You have the ability to grasp concepts from reading a book and
completing a Web site self study training program, and thus do NOT need to go to a
physical classroom. Classroom education is recommended for MOST
people where available.

1. Order the HACCP
Certification Preparation Course, which includes:
a. HACCP Implementation Manual and
KISS Food Safety Book (combined in 1 book from Pearson Education).
c. A web based HACCP training
program. Requires periodic access to the internet, total of
about 4 hours.
2. Study the book and Web
Training program
until you are
comfortable that you know the material.
3. Notify us that you are ready to
take the test and provide us with the name of someone who will proctor
the exam. I will send the exam and instructions to them.
This person needs to be someone who is either:
a. Already
has passed this HACCP examination.
b. Is not
eligible for HACCP, not in the hospitality field (thus no reason to
look at the exam before sending it back to us).
4. Take the test:
a. Arrange
through Ed Manley to have a proctor to administer the examination to
you.
The Certified HACCP Professional CHP designation can help with jobs and
promotions.
HACCP is new enough that very few people hold this prized
certification. Canada just passed a law that in 5 years food
manufacturers without a HACCP certified plant will be out of
business. Every public school in the U. S. was required to have a
HACCP program in place by July 1, 2007 - they are still working on that,
thus jobs are available, plus it helps you get hired for management when
you know HACCP principles.
If your motivation is
to get as much in-depth information about food safety as you can,
so you can teach or be THE food safety manager for your facility, then we
strongly suggest a class.
Are we saying you WILL score the
required 70% to pass? No, we don't know you.
We are assuming that you have a sense of what you know; and that
reviewing the book and CD-Rom will either prove to you that you know enough to
pass a test, or you will study until you do.
